Brain injuries can affect contact-sport players young and old

Football is a favorite sport of many people in Louisiana and across the nation. In addition to rooting on their favorite teams, many people play football recreationally, often starting off as a child in "pee-wee" football. However, as issues regarding long-term brain injuries suffered by football players arise, parents may wonder if it is safe to let their child play football.

Driver fatigue is a factor in thousands of car accidents

Motorists in Louisiana who are feeling fatigued while driving may try several strategies to stay alert. They may drink a large cup of coffee. They may open their windows for some fresh air. Or they may turn the volume up on their radio so that it is very loud. However, these strategies ultimately will not help a fatigued person stay alert. This is significant, as a tired driver is a dangerous driver.

Seeking exemplary damages in a drunk driving wrongful death suit

Drunk driving is a serious issue in Louisiana. Summer is a popular time for barbecues, block parties, trips to the beach and not to mention the Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day holidays. In short, at any of these occasions many people in Louisiana will have a beer, wine or cocktail. However, when one drink leads to another, and then another, a person can easily become intoxicated. While drunkenness in general should be avoided, the situation becomes especially serious if an intoxicated person gets behind the wheel of a car.

Burn injuries caused by backyard fire pits are on the rise

Outdoor heaters and backyard fire pits are very popular these days in Louisiana and nationwide. It is relaxing to watch the sun set next to a fire, and children enjoy roasting marshmallows. People may think that fire pits are safe, as the fire is contained in the pit. However, The Consumer Products Safety Commission reports that in 2017, at least 5,3000 people were sent to the emergency room with injuries caused by outdoor heaters or fire pits. In 2008 that number sat at just 1,900 injuries.
